Laser Cleaning & Rust Removal

  • It all begins with a vehicle you’re interested in getting undercoated. If it isn’t brand new, chances are you might have some rust forming. Living in MN is tough, our state heavily salts roadways with extremely corrosive chloride mixtures. It’s okay if you have some rust that needs to be attended to before undercoating, at Carson Undercoating we’re well equipped to handle it. To give an accurate estimate on cleanup cost and prep, please text/email us photos of your vehicle’s undercarriage.

  • Now that your vehicle is in our hands and we’ve assessed its condition, we’ll immediately get to work on cleaning up your vehicle’s undercarriage in preparation for undercoating. To do this, we will first descale with a pneumatic needle scaler and follow up with our laser cleaning machine.

  • Once we’ve finished cleaning up everything we can on your vehicle’s undercarriage, it’s time to move onto primer. This extra step is very important, we’ll apply a coat of Eastwood Rust Encapsulator to ensure your vehicle is ready for undercoating.

  • Once the primer has dried for 4 hours, it’s time to finally move onto undercoating and really bring your vehicle back to life!

Rust Removal

Here is an example of a truck we worked on that required a healthy amount of prep before undercoating. To get the level of protection we’re looking for, we need to remove as much rust as we can. Once we’ve removed rust and gotten to bare metal, we can move onto the next steps of the process.
Please note: There will always be some inaccessible areas on your vehicle we’re unable to remove rust from.

Metal Treatment

After sanding afflicted areas down to bare metal, it’s important to treat it to ensure rust won’t be coming back anytime soon. In this photo, you can see the entire process from start to finish. We can take a rusty undercarriage, sand it down to clean bare metal, treat the undercarriage with a powerful rust converting primer, then safely move onto undercoating.
